Dimensions: 36 x 24 x 1 Media: Oil in canvas Artist Statement : I’ve often walked past this house in Roland Park in Baltimore. Its Victorian lines and curves always captivated me. This is a rare example of my work based on reality—rather than on abstraction. I took poetic license using my own colors. (The real house is grey which isn’t in my vocabulary!)

I believe that what distinguishes humans from other living creatures is the need to create something that does not already exist: art.
My art focuses on unraveling the color and mystery of human emotions, behavior, and relationships, focusing on the individual within a group dynamic or setting. I stage the setting or crop it out completely as I zoom in on my characters. I am always leveraging my personal experiences and emotions to make my works believable, abstracting shapes and concepts to give my paintings an allegorical or iconic twist. Every painting is a song to me and each tells a unique story, integrating expressive gestures, changing temperaments, and evolving histories.
I never stop creating and pushing myself and each medium to the limit, and I love the physicality of painting. Entering my basement studio, I turn on the music and tune into my intuition and emotion.
